Propagating has become a little hobby of mine that I love so much.
I use this shallow tray as a catch all if I see loose petals or fallen off petals I’ll just toss them on top of the soil. I finally got around to planting the little beebs that started to grow into my flower box and organizing the less mature petals into this tray.
Some of the petals have tiny roots starting so I try to tuck them under the soil but keep the entire petal laying on top. No roots yet? No problem, just lay on top of the soil- the end of the petal will callus and begin to grow roots and new petals.
One thing this has taught me is patience. I’ve given up on petals before that I didn’t think were going to grow but as long as the petal is not totally deflated or shriveled up, just give it time.
The shallow dish allows for the soil to dry out quickly which is key for propagation. Water when the soil is completely dry and make sure it’s in a place where it can get lots of sun. Less sun = less water. .
