• What motivates you to workout & why is that important? ⤵️
There are two main types of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
Intrinsic motivation is when you’re motivated by internal factors.
— Going to the gym to feel strong, confident, and/ or happy
— Working out brings you happiness/ joy
— Going to the gym to be fit/ healthy and improve oneself
This type of motivation is proven to last for longer periods and is more likely to lead to higher levels of success.
Extrinsic motivation is when you’re motivated by external factors.
— Working out to look good for the summer, wedding, occasion, etc.
— Going to the gym to impress someone
— Working out to appear “cool” or a certain way in front of others
This type of motivation is proven to be only for a limited time period; and often comes to an end after the aim is accomplished or failed.
