Been a while since I went on a run to blow off steam. If you don't wanna read the realness of this post, keep scrolling.
Racism isn't anything new to me. When I was a kid, I did not even think about the color of my friends' skin. But I did notice the transition of leaving elementary school and entering middle school that things were different. The white friend I used to talk about Pokemon or video games with from 3rd to 5th grade would get uncomfortable when I approach him and his new friends on the blacktop in middle school. When I would run into a friend in high school out in public at the Denny's Parking Lot with his friends and I would say hi, I would easily get called "nigger" and the friend I thought would have my back would not say a word at all. One of my childhood friends started to go out with a black gentleman back in high school. Her parents were livid but they were totally fine and comfortable with me. I asked a mutual friend why is that, and she said forwardly "you are not a threat, J.T.." ----- Those who think that "Go Back To Where You Came From" or "Send Her Back" isn't offensive may have never had that told to them before. Blacks, Latino, Asians, Muslims, even people from the Jewish community have encountered that slang at least once in their lifetime. To my hometown high school teacher and classmates who believes that these four Congresswomen should be "put on the front line because they will make good targets", I really hope you can look inside your heart and take some inventory because you are insulting your friends who are people of color. To some of the people I grew up with who will never say it to my face but you can easily post vile and nasty comments on a community page, I see you, boo! But the difference between cowards who will post ignorant comments on forums/memes and me is that I will take action. I have not been this fired up since the build up of Election 08. I am going to phone bank, canvass, walk door to door, volunteer, and make sure that the suitable candidate who holds integrity and truth will go face to face towards a man who has displayed hate and division in our country. #Equality #EnoughisEnough
