Today marks 3 whole years that I’ve been teaching yoga!
I could write a very, very long post listing all of the ways teaching yoga has enriched my life. I could talk about how I learned to love yoga after spending most of my life thinking it was dumb and boring. Or, I could share how I went from starting teacher training with no actual desire to teach to graduating knowing that I HAD to.
But instead, today I will share this: although recently I’ve had to considerably scale back the energy I put into teaching, this little side gig of mine has become even more important to me in ways I didn’t expect.
As I experience waves of change and stress, and while impostor syndrome rattles my confidence on a daily basis, my yoga classes have been a much needed twice-weekly anchor. I feel safe in that @southbostonyoga hot room, which has held me as I’ve navigated other life changes. Teaching also is great for a boost of confidence. And most importantly, I feel loved, supported, and welcomed by all of my SBY students — and that has been the most invaluable gift.
And so there is no better way to celebrate these 3 years than with my SBY fam tonight! Also, don’t miss my outdoor class in Boston Common tomorrow at 6pm - make any donation of your choice (cash or Venmo) to attend.
