It’s like only doing curls and no tricep work, your arms are gonna look weird. Vegan Zuppa Toscana 
Inspired by @yummymummykitchen original recipe 
32oz vegetable stock
1 can coconut milk 
1 can chickpeas 
2 1/2 cups kale 
6-7 baby potatoes cut to bite size 
1 yellow onion 
4 cloves garlic 
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp Italian Seasoning 
1/2 tbsp red pepper flakes 
Salt and pepper to taste 
Chop onion and garlic and sauté in pot until onions are translucent, add cut potatoes along with seasonings and veggie stock. Simmer for 15-18 minutes over medium heat until potatoes can be pierced with fork. Once tender, add kale, chickpeas and coconut milk. Stir over low heat until ingredients are combined. Serve with nutritional yeast and a slice of crusty bread for dipping 😋

I love food.
Specifically food that is real.
Whole.
I’ve gotten to a point where if I deviate even a little bit from what my body has gotten accustomed to, I feel it.  Sluggishness, reduction in sleep quality, decreased exercise performance, mood alteration - the list goes on and on.  The food you eat can impact your life in innumerable ways.  This message remains one of the main goals of my Instagram account.

What I didn’t realize is that the internet/social media takes food very very seriously.  You’re judged.  You’re celebrated.  You’re vilified.  You’re dismissed.  It’s been enough to make me question “we’re just talking about food, right?”
.
And it’s not made easier for the layman when there’s so many polarizing opinions.  The anti-plant based, anti-whole food nutrition community argue that “causation doesn’t equal association” - totally eschewing a large amount ofwell constructed data in the process.  The reality is a causative study that involves a large population over several decades is never coming, so let’s stop kidding ourselves.  It’s too difficult to identify causation over someone’s entire life because there are simply too many variables.  Food is just one aspect of health/wellness.  As such, studies that can show strong associations that are repeatable is the best we have combined with randomizes-controlled trials on disease reversal and avoidance of complications through dietary interventions.

Instead of trying to recommend people follow a specific type of “diet” however, I’d first like to help people identify what healthy food actually is - before worrying about IIFYM, calorie counting, etc.  Honestly, most people wouldn’t need to concern themselves with all of the gimmicks and minutia if the junk is removed from their diet - fake foods that are imposed on us from a modern health system built on profits and not promotion of health.

I love food.

Banana🍌 Chocolate Chip Muffins. Great recipe by @themealprepmanual 😄

Gluten free, grain free, almost added sugar free (the chocolate chips have some). These are one of my favorite sweet treats to make. They are super easy and a great way to use up some old bananas 🍌 . .
All you have to do to make these muffins is throw all the ingredients minus the chocolate chips in a blender and pour it in a muffin tin. Top with a few chocolate chips. Bake at 400F for 8 minutes. Each muffin has around 100 calories if you make 24 of them. A lot of these calories come from the peanut butter. You could certainly get creative and come up with some ways to reduce the amount of peanut butter if you are interested in being more calorie conscious. There are other nut/seed butters that are lower calorie but more expensive. .

Give these a try next time you have some bananas that are about to go bad. Make sure you understand that while these use healthier ingredients they are still very easy to overeat. You need to be cautious you stay within your goals. Because they are mini muffins, it is super easy to just pop them in your mouth mindlessly. Just because they use bananas and peanut butter as the main ingredients doesn’t make them “healthy”. Make sure you are aware of how these fit into your own personal equation of calorie balance!!

Over the last few years, our attention has shifted from calorie tracking to macro tracking, for true fat loss. People everywhere are talking about macros—counting them, hitting them, etc.

Let’s breakdown the HYPE on why macro tracking is SO IMPORTANT.

#1 Macro Tracking is simply a percentage of how much fat, carb or protein you consume everyday. Rather than eating based on a calories-per-day system, macro-counting involves measuring how much of each macro-nutrient you consume via a tracking system. In the FASTer Way to Fat Loss, we use the MyFitnessPal App to do this along with personalized coaching to make sure your macros are correct and someone is holding you ACCOUNTABLE for them each day.

#2 When tracking macros, you are focusing on what the body NEEDS to function at an optimal level. It is a proven method to gain lean muscle and burn fat for the long term. The result? Body recomposition - It is designed to work with your body type and lifestyle habits.

Shilajit is a safe, fluvic mineral complex exudate that is common to Ayurvedic medicine and is composed of fulvic acids, dibenzo-α-pyrones, proteins, and minerals. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 8 weeks of Shilajit supplementation at 250 mg·d− 1 (low dose) and 500 mg·d− 1(high dose) versus placebo on maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) strength, concentric peak torque, fatigue-induced percent decline in strength, and serum hydroxyproline (HYP). Methods

Sixty-three recreationally-active men (𝑋⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯
X ± SD: 21.2 ± 2.4 yr.; 179.8 ± 6.3 cm; 83.1 ± 12.7 kg) volunteered to participate in this study. The subjects were randomly assigned to the high dose, low dose, or placebo group (each group: n = 21). During pre-supplementation testing, the subjects performed 2 pretest MVICs, 2 sets of 50 maximal, bilateral, concentric isokinetic leg extensions at 180°·s− 1separated by 2-min of rest, and 2 posttest MVICs. Following 8 weeks of supplementation, the subjects repeated the pre-supplementation testing procedures. In addition, the groups were dichotomized at the 50th percentile based on pre-supplementation MVIC and baseline HYP. Mixed model ANOVAs and ANCOVAs were used to statistically analyze the dependent variables for the total groups (n = 21 per group) as well as dichotomized groups.

Results

For the upper 50th percentile group, the post-supplementation adjusted mean percent decline in MVIC was significantly less for the high dose group (8.9 ± 2.3%) than the low dose (17.0 ± 2.4%; p = 0.022) and placebo (16.0 ± 2.4%; p = 0.044) groups. There was no significant (p = 0.774) difference, however, between the low dose and placebo groups. In addition, for the upper 50th percentile group, the adjusted mean post-supplementation baseline HYP for the high dose group (1.5 ± 0.3 μg·mL− 1) was significantly less than both the low dose (2.4 ± 0.3 μg·mL− 1; p = 0.034) and placebo (2.4 ± 0.3 μg·mL− 1, p = 0.024) groups.

Conclusions

The results of the present study demonstrated that 8 weeks of  #Shilajit supplementation at 500 mg·d− 1 promoted the retention of maximal muscular strength following the fatiguing protocol and decreased baseline HYP.

Hooray! We’re more than halfway through the workweek, so why not reward ourselves with a creamy and delicious smoothie bowl. This smoothie bowl has a banana, strawberry and strawberry kefir yogurt smoothie. And is topped with some sliced bananas, blueberries, walnuts and chunks of dark chocolate. 
For this recipe I used the @Lifeway Strawberry Kefir, which tastes just like a strawberry milkshake with a bit of tartness. Kefir actually has twice the amount of probiotics than the average yogurt and Lifeway yogurt products only have 1 gram of added sugar, making it the perfect choice for people watching their sugar intake.

I am always so surprised on how strong my baby is! 
He fell face first to the end of the couch arm rest and it caused him to bite the interior of his upper lip 😭 
After literally 4 full handfuls of blood and the whole bathroom sink full of blood. The bite was pretty deep and we took him to the ER. When he cried he stretched out the cut even more causing it to tear more 😭 
Sebastian always heals super fast ! So during the whole 30min car ride to the emergency room. The blood stopped gushing and once he was checked out by the doctor, the deep cut was literally almost completely close ! 
So luckily no stitches were required due to him healing so fast ! 
He also didn't get any loose teeth 🦷
Now the whole area is swollen and he's going to have to only eat cold food items. 
But he was such a strong kid. Instead of just screaming he was just using his toungue to stop the bleeding and kept drinking water. While freaked out mom over here was driving and crying the whole way to the hospital 😂😭
He was just all smiles in the waiting room ! And wanted to go home because he said he was hungry 😂 
I guess this is what the boy mom life is all about 🤦

I am always so surprised on how strong my baby is!
He fell face first to the end of the couch arm rest and it caused him to bite the interior of his upper lip 😭
After literally 4 full handfuls of blood and the whole bathroom sink full of blood. The bite was pretty deep and we took him to the ER. When he cried he stretched out the cut even more causing it to tear more 😭

1lb. chicken breasts, or tenders⁣⁣
2 Tbsp avocado oil, extra-virgin olive oil ⁣⁣
1 yellow onion, diced ⁣⁣
2 cloves garlic, minced ⁣⁣
1 tsp. ground cumin ⁣⁣
2 tsp. chili powder ⁣⁣
1.5 cups enchilada sauce, gluten free, divided ⁣⁣
4 large zucchini (I used both yellow and green ones), sliced with a wide peeler, or mandolin ⁣⁣
1/4 cup shredded cheese ⁣⁣
sea salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste⁣⁣
⁣⁣

𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: ⁣⁣
Preheat oven to 350ºF. ⁣⁣
In large skillet over medium, heat the oil. ⁣⁣
Add chicken breasts and cook for about 6 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the middle.⁣⁣
Season with sea salt and pepper then set aside on a board. Once it's cooled a bit, shred it using 2 forks. ⁣⁣
In the same pan add in the onion and cook for about 3 minutes until translucent. Add the garlic and spices, then return the shredded chicken to the pan.⁣⁣
Pour in 1 cup of enchilada sauce then stir well until combined. ⁣⁣
On a cutting board, lay out 4-5 zucchini slices slightly overlapping each other. Add spoonful of chicken mixture on top at one end as shown. Roll up and transfer carefully to a baking dish. ⁣⁣
Repeat with remaining zucchini and chicken mixture. ⁣⁣
Drizzle the remaining enchilada sauce on top and sprinkle with shredded cheese. ⁣⁣
Bake for approximately 20 minutes and until cheese is melted. Enjoy!⁣⁣ ❤

On a constant search for good GF alternatives in the city, I found a new favorite & filled that craving with exactly what I needed. GF bagel from @majorfoodgroup Sadelles with cream cheese, avocado, tomato, cucumber, and lox. All while breakfast dating with my momma ❣️
