Are you new to building muscle and going to the gym? All of us have been in your shoes, we all, at some point, were the newbies trying to figure everything out. 🤔⠀

Let me make it a little easier for you, these are the (oversimplified) steps to start building muscle mass! 👇🏽⠀

1. Go to the gym or train at home. Your muscles need some sort of stimuly to grow!⠀

2. Eat in a small calorie suprlus, this means that you have to eat more than your body burns. So if you burn 1900 calories daily (online calculators can give you an idea), you have to eat around 2300-2500 to be in a suplus. ⠀

3. Eat a high protein diet, protein can be seen as the buidling blocks of our body. They repair the damage in our muscles that get created by training. ⠀

4. Progressive overload. This is what's going to make your muscles grow, add weight, reps or even a set to your workout. And do a little more than you did last time. ⠀

5. Be consistent, this may be the hardest point and most people struggle with this one. If you just go to the gym without a plan, you won't see the results that you could see. ⠀

1️⃣ DB Alternating Arnold Press - Try Press Up and over your head to get full ROM.
2️⃣ KB/DB Floor Press - Floor Press is a fairly underused exercise, but if you suffer from shoulder pain this is great for not putting the added load on your rotator cuff.
3️⃣ Barbell Row - Drive the elbows back, rather than up.
4️⃣ DB Incline Chest Press - Who doesn’t love a good CHEST EXERCISE 😆
5️⃣ Dips - Get good at these to get strong!
6️⃣ Pull Ups - Of course pull ups has to be in everyone’s pull workout!

Rehab is taking along time for my knee so I’m focussing one ROM and quality over the weight at the minute but still building slowly. Managing 60kg at the minute. But as you can see from warming up with front squats and overhead squats my ROM is greatly increased. ...

Today is thanksgiving in 🇨🇦 !

Taking the time out of your day to reflect on the good that is present in your life is something that we should all practice more often! Part of my mental healing journey is recognizing the things in my life that cause me stress and anxiety, and conversely, recognizing things that I’m grateful for -mostly things that I take for granted each day 🤓 and also allowing myself to feel pride and joy for the things I’ve worked hard to accomplish!
I’m working on finding joy in small day-to day things instead of only allowing myself to feel “happy” or proud when I reach an achievement. Most of the time these “achievements” can be superficial anyways, so it’s super important to put things into perspective and that way I can use my gratitude to appreciate life more fully!! .
So today on thanksgiving- instead of just giving your “thanks for this food”- take a second to truly think about the things in your life you’re appreciative of, and also what the implications could be if they weren’t a part of your life. 
I’m grateful for this little Instagram support system and connections I’ve made because of it, and I want to thank you for being a part of it!
Hope u eat lots of yummy food and pie today (or leftovers if u already had your meal)!!! (Not a fan of pumpkin pie, is that weird?😂 I think it’s the Brit in me)

So the last couple years, I've been dealing with some extreme back pains. I haven't really liked talking about it because I've really been in denial. But I'm at the point where it's affecting me more and more and I WANT to take action. Rather than feeling like I "need" to take action. Who likes doing things we NEED to do, am I right? It's all perspective. Anyways, it's been really tough on me mentally, not being able to move somedays is super scary and super depressing. Not a lot of people know the intensity of what I've been going through unless you've seen me in the middle of the worst of the pain. And to those clients of mine who have been so loving and patient: thank you!! It seriously means the world to me and I'm so grateful for you. 
I know the perception is "we go to our hairstylists to feel better" but sometimes I need you guys just as much. I have so much love for you all!

And on days like yesterday, it's so nice to feel (almost) normal and be around some of the best girls. ♀️✨💕
