Mauritius was recently ranked by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) as having the third most endangered flora in the world. Of 315 endemic plants, the island is home to a unique and beautiful specie: the Trochetia Boutoniana.
1. #Trochetia The first picture is The national flower of #Mauritius Its flowering time is winter, generally from May to September. A very rare flower, it’s only natural habitat in the world happens to be in Mauritius, more specifically on the slopes of #LeMorne mountain. Which is where I spotted it and caught its beauty in the backdrop of the Southwest tip of the island.
P.S. it only grows in to the wild some 500 meters above the sea level 🤔
