Happy Friday folks! I had a busy day but a good day. Had an impromptu lunch with my coworker to eat zoodle pho (not pictured) on a dreary day. My hubby was sweet to prep our dinner. Wild caught red copper salmon (was on massive sale) with lemon cooked in butter. We also had asparagus sautéed in ghee and seasoned with salt, pepper, red cayenne pepper. It was delicious! .

It could just be me but I’ve noticed that my body composition seems to be slightly changing. Not sure if I’m getting leaner but my fat rolls around my stomach doesn’t look as prominent 🤣

Anybody else have A TON of tomatoes from the summer ripening faster than you can keep up OR are you sick of buying tomato sauce that has more salt and sugar than you want? Making your own sauce is sooo simple! I made a huge batch and froze it (I was supposed to can it but not sure what I was thinking with a 6.5 month old....seriously one thing at a time🤷‍♀️). You really can't ever go wrong with banana bread in my opinion,  it's super easy to make and amazingly good. 
Not only was this the best banana bread I've had, it's high in protein and really filling too. I threw some almonds in there as well, to really give it a nice crunch.
Props to @scitecnutritioncanada for making the recipe what it is with their great tasting protein powder. At 10 grams of protein a slice, this protein banana bread is fit for any occasion, pre and post workout, breakfast, dinner, you name it 💪

Do you ever feel like you're doing all the right things to get fitter & healthy, yet you just aren't getting results as fast as you thought you would?⠀⠀

Yeah, we've all been there. While you should never expect to magically get fit the second you start working out and eating healthier, you always have to always keep in mind that getting fit goes beyond just losing weight...it’s about having a healthy body and mind!⠀⠀

Here are six habits that have helped us get fitter both mentally and physically, and will help you too:⠀⠀
🥕Be intuitive with your eating habits: eat when you are hungry, listen to the signals in your body and stop when your belly is full.⠀⠀
😴Get more sleep:get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per night. Sleep is a HUGE key to fitness success. The lack of it, sabotages gym time, makes you crave more food, and your body ends up storing fat in all the wrong places. ⠀⠀
💪🏼Make exercise a habit: Aim to workout 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Include both cardio and weights. Full-body exercises like squats, burpees, push ups and triceps work like a charm.⠀⠀
😰Reduce Stress: take some time every day to stop and smell the roses. Making sure you take time to relax, meditate and do the things you love will help you tremendously.⠀⠀
💕Build healthy relationships: healthy relationships mean a stronger heart and body...literally. Many studies have shown that. Make sure you are surrounded with people that love you and motivate you.⠀⠀
🙅🏻‍♀️Learn to say "no": the ability to say ‘no’ really reflects that you are in the driver’s seat of your own life. Don’t waste time doing things you do not want to do. Take care of yourself first, and make yourself a priority.⠀⠀

*We start all meals with SMALLER PORTIONS however he is able to ask for MORE of ANYTHING we are eating at that particular meal- this reduces food waste and teaches intuitive eating. See “portion size” highlight for more information*

Friday’s are USUALLY grocery shopping days but that didn’t happen today 🙃 long story but our vacuum is REALLLLY clean now! So this 10 minute lunch had to be thrown together using whatever I could find left in the pantry, freezer, and fridge. (So not much) “Mac and peas” as I call it is such a simple, fast and delicious way to make a balanced lunch! I cooked the pasta per the directions (8minutes) and use the flavor packet however I used 1/3 cup @stonyfield whole milk plain yogurt with probiotics + 1 tsp whole milk to make the pasta. This makes it much thicker, creamier, and adds a tanginess that I love! While the pasta cooked, I sautéed the frozen peas (3minutes) with some @kerrygoldusa butter until soft and added them to the pasta 😍 so tasty!

Jax has THREE servings of the Mac and Peas! Although technically the third serving was when he reached over and helped himself to two handfuls of MY Mac and peas.... and I quickly explained to him that’s a great way to get a finger bitten off around here 🤣 kidding, kinda 🤣

We only had half of an apple leftover in the fridge by lunchtime today 😳Thankfully I saw @yummytoddlerfood share a post on sautéed apples yesterday which was my inspiration (thanks Amy 💕) He ate the first bite of apple that was preloaded on the fork but was then too happy with his other food. Oh well, more apples for me 🤷‍♀️ What’s your favorite 10 minute (or less) lunch?!

a view of friday morning light & breakfast 🙏🏼 which obviously includes bread, avocado and eggs! i was going to make an egg scramble but changed my mind to an omelette halfway, which is why it looks a bit off 🤷🏻‍♀️ still bomb though!
to make: in a small bowl, scramble together 3 @vitalfarms pasture-raised eggs with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika. preheat pan to medium heat with 1 tsp olive oil to coat pan. scramble 2 cups raw baby spinach and then pour in egg mixture. make into a scramble or fold into an omelette 😋 serve with toasted @daveskillerbread bread + mashed avocado + sesame bagel seasoning + @simplyorganicfoods red pepper flakes. then add some @sietefoods hot sauce after! 🔥 #winniesbalance

PSA: no one food causes weight gain. We love to tell ourselves not to eat junk food because it causes weight gain when that’s not true. The primary cause of weight gain is TOTAL CALORIES. I get messages with questions about whether or not foods like oats and potatoes or pizza and cake causes weight gain. The truth is, eating one piece of cake isn’t gonna cause weight gain. Maybe eating 5 cakes a day every day will but we gotta stop with this mentality that having a treat will make us gain unnecessary weight in that moment because it’s not true and truly not possible from a scientific standpoint. A piece of carrot cake won’t make you gain weight either and today Im channeling my carrot cake cravings today with some oats! The best alternative if you don’t have actual cake 🥕🎂 recipe in below in the comments! #carrotcake #oats
