6 days off and i’m going insane. 6 days is plenty of time off. Even in the field you can’t make excuses you can get in a great workout anywhere using the equipment you have on hand and being creative. Doing something like this 2-3 times a week while being in a caloric surplus will make it so your muscles stay active and you won’t lose all your gains on long field ops. You just gotta not be lazy and bring a little intensity. It’s a mindset.

The weather has been awful today 😫☔️ so I left work, all ready for the gym and I was really looking forward to my session. Takes like 30 seconds to get from the door to my car but the rain was that bad it soaked through my coat and my feet were drenched 😫 I couldn’t go to the gym it was that bad! So I ended up doing a home workout. Not what I had planned but better than nothing! So yeah, if something happens, it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything, just change your plan and do what you can 😊

When starting residency a chief resident told me something very important. He said it’s not a competition anymore. Everyone now has the same goal. You’re here to be the best surgeon you can be, period. When you take away the competition between your peers you can be a better version of yourself and just learn. .

What I took from that is I need to prioritize things in my life to maximize my mental, physical and emotion health.

Bodybuilding/nutrition/fitness are all a BIG part of why I keep moving forward. 💯

The truth? 💕 “HEALTHY” looks DIFFERENT for everyone.
I’d been criticizing myself for YEARS, and using THAT as fuel for my workouts. Wellllll…... it was a fast track to destination heartbreak and self-loathing. 💔

Now this doesn’t mean that a huge bowl of raw kale as your sole meal every day is a smart idea (spoiler alert: it’s not), but overall vegetables are among our most nutrient dense foods. Looking at statistics of nutrient deficiency prevalence, it would be remiss of me to say “limit your veggies”! 🤪

And thankfully, if regularly counting calories is your thing, you’ll be happy to know that veggies do not contain many. 🙌🏼
