#CLIENTSPOTLIGHT this is @marvturnerpt who I have the pleasure of helping with nutrition aspect of his training!! Marv competes as a NATURAL power lifter and his progress over the last few years has been fantastic! Marv is one of the top 3 in the United Kindom in his weight class of 105kg with some scary lifts and a total of 740kg! Only issue we ran into is that Marvs body likes to grow muscle tissue easily so each comp was getting harder to get him into that 105kg class! No drastic weight cuts no drastic diet just slow and steady progress to comp day focusing on performance and recovery! Discussions have been had and we feel his next move for his progress is going to compete in the under 120kg class the progress this lad will make is scary and mark my words over the next few years he will be fighting for top spot ! Long gone are the days where powerlifters and strongmen would just get FAT for strength! Look at some of the worlds current best like thor, Larry wheels, terry Holland’s, Mariusz pudinowski, zydruna savisckas! All dropped body fat and follow STRUCTURE!! As cardiovascular and endurance can help them go longer! All I wanted to do was deadlift.....and so that's all I did. 
A few nice warm up sets... then a few 140 triples and a couple 160 doubles.... and then i put 180 on the platform and hit a new sumo PB. 
I wasnt at all happy with that though cause it was scrappy as anything. Lifted the bar from too far away which is why you can see it wobble.back and forth. 
Didn't anchor my hips at all.
Just loads wrong with the lift.
So took a break. Set up again. And repped it for a 2nd much cleaner lift.
Still not perfect but it went up smoother than the first so I'm happy. 
I do wish the platform would wobble around so much though. Its annoying as F trying to keep the bar in a straight line when you're down and set ready to go. .

How to grow your calves 🏆

First of all. You NEED to know this 👉🏼 your calves need the same attention as every other muscle. Treat them like that! .
.
Firstly, you need to train them with high reps AND heavy weight. I saw James hollingshead do 5 plates on this calves raise machine. I don’t care he’s assisted I’m chasing that down too! There’s a reason my calves are growing and it’s because I have this mindset 👆🏼
.
.
Secondly, get the muscle fully lengthened and fully shortened. I struggle with this because I have arthritis in my ankle but if I can do it, so can you 👊🏼
.
.
Thirdly, Volume! Your calves can take a lot of work. Back in the day I used to do 8 sets of calves at the end of leg days. Yes, EIGHT! This is what I needed to do to make them grow so do the necessary. .
.
One last tip. Utilise seated and standing calve raises to hit all angles of the calve and soleus. I love to use .
.
Calve press (using leg press machine) 2 sets heels pointed in, 2 sets heels straight, 2 sets heels pointed out. (Inner and outer portions of the calves hit here) 12–15 reps .
.
Seated calves raises (shown) 3 sets 8-10 reps .
.
Donkey calve raises 3 sets 2 x 8-10 1 x 15-20 reps .
.
Minimum of 6 intense sets a week, fully lengthened and shortened. Using heavy weight and high reps. They HAVE to grow 🏋🏻‍♂️🔥

I woke up and texted my mom this morning walking to the dog park - saying I had only lost 5 pounds since the beginning of September. 🥵
I was kinda pouty. Then I looked down at my shirt and 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 to myself. 
𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓 it. 
It’s 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴.
𝐎𝐖𝐍 where you are 𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 & keep getting 𝐁𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑. & then proceeded to take timed selfies of myself at the dog park. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s a good dang day to be ᴀʟɪᴠᴇ. 
Happy Sunday. Here’s to healing & bettering our bodies, & owning our progress. ❤️

Never, Ever Quit! #motivation 😤💪

I feel there are three main components in any exercise program to build lean muscle and lose unwanted body fat. These components are resistance training, cardiovascular exercise, and proper nutrition. All three are equally important in achieving your goals in fitness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If one is not executed consistently, the other two will suffer and so will your progress. Don't get me wrong; to assume we can be perfect, 100% of the time will just be setting ourselves up for failure. Our goal should be to follow our programs the best we can day in and day out most of the time. The longer the time you stick with something the better you will become at it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A consistent routine will take some time to develop. After a couple of weeks, it will be a part of your everyday routine. Once you hit that level it is smooth sailing, almost "auto-pilot." Sure, in the beginning it will be difficult at times to prepare all your meals, do all your cardio, and hit every training session.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You will get use to it, and there will come a point where you will not even think about it because it will be a consistent part of your daily routine. It is just a matter of convincing yourself that you can do it, and giving yourself time to get there. The more time you do it, the more confidence you will develop to stick with it. So please go out there and try your best, you owe it to yourself! Take care!

Women (also some men) pack on fat/bloat in the lower belly/back/sides area and even tho high-waisted pants can hide it; the truth can’t be hidden.

When I roll my shorts down to my hips, you can see the fat - and on some days (like the day I took the 📸) it’s an even more prominent bulge. This was taken on #Thursday (4th consecutive day of workouts) after my workout at 10:30 PM. .
.
This is my current battle - this is what I’m fighting & where my insecurities emerge. I’ve been contemplating sharing this - but as I type this - I feel more empowered than ever to share. In the last 2.5 years I’ve lost over 24% body fat, dropped down to a size 4 - but this where numbers make no sense & BAMM reality takes over. Is my belly fat made up of 👽 alien mutated fat stores 😃 #haha Nope ! It’s not - We all store fat differently in different parts of the body. .

Own your flaws like you flaunt your wins; because that’s the only way to permanently achieve growth.

Today I am thankful for progressional healing;⁣
for healing that doesn’t expect me to be anything other than broken and shattered in whatever moment I’m in-
for healing that extends its Grace over and over again, relentlessly.
