Heres me wondering if that right foot will stick when I move my hands. Super fun day exploring all of Seattle's boulders. There a quite a few! Too bad the biggest bestest one is "unlawful" to climb. #bouldering #rocksareforclimbing #seattlewaterfront #getoutside #reiproject1440 #optoutside #pnw

My van is waiting for me in Colorado while I do a little east coast climbing trip. {ME->MD->NC->TN->GA->KY} I thought renting a yurt, staying in hostels and the occasional sleeping in the car might be a little more glamorous than vanlife... who doesn’t want to stay in a yurt under the stars? but let me tell you.. I miss my dang van so much and this road trip has been way more difficult without it. Yurt life was actually a complete struggle. Hostels were full of LOUDLY snoring people. And KY is actually really chilly and rainy (silly me didn’t bring a jacket) so nights sleeping in the car have been cold and damp and offer no room to dry out soaked clothing. On the plus side, I borrowed the my moms company car and it gets mad gas mileage unlike my van💪🏽 so feel free to judge my little gold Prius, she cruisin’ at 90mph down highways (sorry mom) getting 50 miles to the gallon.

I feel like a total newbie when it comes to bouldering. Powerful movement, weird body positions - it’s a style of climbing that is very foreign and hard for me.
Slowly but surely I feel like my bouldering and body awareness is improving, which gets me psyched on tackling some harder problems this season!
But don’t worry ropes, you still have my heart ♥️
PS check out @tammyfaye with that bomb spot 😘

Shoutout to @eric_fallecker for taking some absolutely gorgeous photos of me not sending Every Color You Are (V6)

“It was the first hike I ever did, I must’ve been 9 or 10 years old. It’s what kickstarted my love for the outdoors. When you’re up there, and you think about all the work you put in for that view, you just can’t get enough.” - Rami Nasr, Founder

On the significance behind the Fire Lookout design.

We got back on the trail today! We first hiked Cutthroat Lake, a less popular but very muddy trail to view larches. No sightings of bears but we did come across a guy hiking his pet goats.
Then we played tourists at view points for Washington Pass and Diablo Lake. It was a fun day, but I was wiped out and slept most of the 4.5 hour car ride back to Seattle.

Within the first hour of arriving to the #WOTRcampout I got to squeeze @galestraub and @haileyhirst. We quickly began chatting about comfort and living in a van. Or rather the discomforts of #vanlife.
-
Throughout the weekend I got to hear from different friends, new and old, who could relate with what I shared a few posts ago. What does it mean to be home regardless of your location? What about when your community is shifting?
-
Something I’ve realized is how easy it would be to say ‘this isn’t for me’ and walk away from this conversation, rather than see that response for what it is—a reflection of my internal world.
-
Comfort comes from me. I don’t need a house, a van, my own bed, or access to Netflix (okay well, yes I do need shelter and security so let’s assume for this exercise that is taken care of). I’m uncomfortable in the van because my insides are uncomfortable, I’m in transition, I’m saying hard goodbyes and jumping into thing feet first.
-
I remember growing up asking my mama what these aches and pains in my body were, “oh those are just growing pains my love”. Somehow that made the discomfort exciting and manageable.
.
Going to bed solo in the van, with extra layers on because the seasons decided to finally change, I realized these aches and pains have a similar excitement.
.
Well, what is growth without them? Growing pains for ‘my love’—for me.
-
So thank you all for asking how I’ve been doing, living and learning in this new environment. This week I really love it and I think that will ebb and flow with the human steering the ship.
-
I’ll keep you posted if things change. Xoxo, the ever growing jme. 🧡

my life is a weird, paradoxical, juxtaposition of touring & living out of hotels for months at a time, and then spending the other few off-season months living like this. the only constant seems to be change. #jmt2019 📍Evolution Basin, Aug 6, 2019.

This park has been a dream since I first learned what it was. @yosemitenps to some is just a park with mountains and trees. To me it helped me escape my thoughts and myself. Get lost in nature

My feed was just asking for a waterfall shot. (It wants what it wants. 🤷‍♀️) Time to get out and explore some new ones!

On top top of Angels Landing with @psipin92 for our honey moon. Zion is so beautiful. Definitely my favorite hike ever. Not as bad as people say it is.

PS: I got my trail legs back finally! .

caught this guy location scouting for camping spots the other day during our hike. two summers of basically no camping due to pregnancy (last summer) and a baby (this summer) has resulted in GRAND plans to sleep in the mountains most weekends next year. now if only they made lighter four-person tents....... 🤨🏕

PUDs, illustrated. ⁣
⁣
It’s thru-hiking jargon defined by Jeffrey “Loner” Gray in his book “Painted Blazes: Hiking the Appalachian Trail with Loner.”⁣
⁣
“PUDs: Pointless ups and downs. Small mountains—one after the other.”⁣
⁣
You hear this term being used on the Appalachian Trail by hikers who are complaining about the way the trail is routed. But the ups and downs aren’t usually pointless—more often, they’re prescribed by easements, rights of way, ownership rights, etc. ⁣
⁣
The idea of trail designers as sadists generally doesn’t hold up.
